The listening post...
I am blessed by the generous support and creative collaboration that is often injected into my arts projects by a beautiful group of amazingly talented friends and fellow artists. Steve Reinthal, Bridget O'Donoghue, Blair Marks, Kiri Waiata-Green, Dale Jones, Brian Whyte, Cleis Pearce, Jon Carson, Ingrid Maudlin, Ann Bermingham, Belinda Berrington, Trae Mazzoni, Sonny Law, the Poetic Murriz, plus many other generous and talented people. Thank you.
Steve Reinthal
composes, produces and performs on his own terms, creating music that
flows from his own deep sense of artistic integrity. Steve is an extraordinarily versatile composer in that he captures and conveys melody and texture in emotionally masterful combinations. At times his simplest sketches are the most powerful and he frequently astounds me with the variety of flavours he is able to draw forth.
His influences are extremely wide, ranging from Itzhak Perlman, Fats Waller, Beck, Ella, Sinatra, Bella Fleck, Paul Brady, Cros', JT (Taylor not Timberlake), Bonnie Rait, Bensusan, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Texas Playboys, Oregon and yes... Roberta Joan, of course.
Steve's lush melodic compositions generate an emotional energy that combines his strong technical ability with a natural intuitive skill. The combination conveys audiences into deep states of inner reflection, altered moods, intensely beautiful atmospheres, which for me, as a filmic and theatric story teller, is a great gift that profoundly enhances my life and work. Steve's art features in nearly all of mine.
Current projects include:- just completed the music soundtrack and sound design for Blue Colour, audio production with Brisbane original band Generation Jones, contemporary music composition tuition for the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts, current studies (Master of Media Production - Griffith Film School/QCA), just commenced composing the music soundtrack for feature film Ogwen & Eyriri...
